MIT Sloan offers the world’s best Master in Business Analytics. MIT continues its run at the top of the QS business analytics masters ranking, a spot it’s held since 2019. 

Fellow US school UCLA Anderson comes in second place, while the Data Science for Business master’s, jointly offered by France’s HEC Paris and Ecole Polytechnique takes third. It’s the first time the program has featured in the ranking. 

The US is home to four of the top 10 universities for Master in Business Analytics, or MSBA, degrees. France has three and the UK has two, while Spain has one.

China plans to break up Ant’s Alipay and force creation of separate loans app – FT

Sept 12 (Reuters) – Beijing wants to break up Alipay, the hugely popular payments app owned by Jack Ma’s Ant Group, and create a separate app for the company’s highly profitable loans business, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

The plan will also see Ant turn over the user data that underpins its lending decisions to a new credit scoring joint-venture, which will be partly state-owned, the newspaper reported, citing two people familiar with the process.

State-backed firms are set to take a sizeable stake in Ant’s credit-scoring joint venture for the first time, three people told Reuters last week.

Grant funds offered to business owners hurt by flooding | News

Haywood Strong Disaster Relief Fund will be offering flood relief for business owners impacted by Tropical Storm Fred.

The fund is one of the initiatives created by the Haywood Business Support Task Force, a collaboration between the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber), The Mountain West Partnership (MWP), WCU and UNCA Small Business Technology Development Center (SBTDC), Mountain Bizworks (MB), and Haywood Community College Small Business Center (HCC-SBC).

In addition to the relief fund program, the task force will provide comprehensive information, printed resources, and town hall meetings.

The relief fund is made possible through a partnership with Mountain Bizworks, a 501(c)(3) community development financial institution that serves as a vehicle for a wide range of community development needs.

Primark’s sales fall short as COVID continues to take toll

LONDON, Sept 13 (Reuters) – Sales at fashion retailer Primark fell short of management expectations in its latest quarter, hit by public health restrictions in major markets to control the fast-spreading Delta coronavirus variant.

Shares in owner Associated British Foods (ABF.L) were down 3.4% at 0859 GMT after it forecast Primark’s like-for-like sales in its fourth quarter to Sept. 18 were down 17% on the same period two years ago. That was after a 3% increase in the third quarter when stores reopened from pandemic lockdowns.

Primark’s two biggest markets, Britain and Spain, were particularly badly hit.
