Lehigh Launches New Master of Business Analytics
Lehigh’s College of Business has launched its new STEM-designated Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree program, a 33-credit STEM degree graduate business program specifically designed to prepare students with cutting-edge knowledge and skill sets that will enable them to be competitive in the rapidly growing field of business analytics and data science.
Whether it’s through the lens of marketing, business information services, finance, or business statistics, the Lehigh MSBA degree will equip students with skills that employers need.
According to recent studies, almost three out of every four global enterprises predict their investment in data and analytics will greatly accelerate over the next three years and beyond. With over 50% leveraging advanced and predictive analytics today, companies are now able to provide greater insights and contextual intelligence into their operations. While companies increasingly recognize the value of applying business analytics, many report that skilled managers in roles requiring training in business analytics remain in short supply.
The Lehigh MS in Business Analytics degree program is designed to help close that supply gap, and thus assist organizations in developing and sustaining a unique competitive advantage.
“The rapid advancement in information technology has created a data rich environment for organizations in all sectors,” said Georgette Chapman Phillips, Kevin L. and Lisa A. Clayton Dean, Lehigh University College of Business. “How to collect data, how to evaluate data collection methods and sources, and how to use the data to gain business insights and improve decision-making are the challenges faced by today’s intuitive managers. At Lehigh Business, we prepare our students to take on such challenges and grow as future business leaders.”
Oliver Yao, interim deputy provost for graduate education, said the program is STEM-designated and is open to students from all backgrounds and educational areas, including arts and sciences, engineering, business and more.
“The program will offer a unique blend of classes across three modules and includes experiential learning in a capstone project that enables students to apply what they learn in the classroom,” said Yao, who is also associate dean for graduate business programs, and George N Beckwith’32 Professor, Lehigh University College of Business.
“Our goal here at Lehigh Business is to reinforce our reputation as a university that operates at the intersection of business and technology, he said. “As such, we are inspired by the challenge to unleash our multiple research centers that connect us with industries. Whether it be our Center for Supply Chain Research or our new Center for Marketing Analytics, Lehigh Business is uniquely positioned to provide MSBA students with valuable real-world learning experiences in business analytics.”
