Webster Groves business gives students college alternative

Laptops and free coursework are up for grabs with the Digital Strike scholarship campaign

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — A Webster Groves business is partnering with Google to give high school graduates an alternative to traditional college.

Digital Strike is awarding 20 St. Louis area high school students computers and financing to complete a Grow with Google certificate. Grow with Google offers professional-level training in IT support, data analytics, project management, UX design and Android development. 

All courses are completed online and cost $39 per month. For the 20 St. Louis students selected by Digital Strike, their fees will be covered. 

Grow with Google coursework can be taken in conjunction with the traditional 4-year college degree curriculum. Chris Westmeyer is the President of Digital Strike Targeted Marketing and he hopes some students will see his company’s partnership with Grow with Google as an alternative to potentially expensive college classes.

Price College of Business welcomes world’s first executive masters of business administration program | News

The OU Price College of Business launched the world’s first executive masters of business administration program focused on renewable energy, according to a June 22 press release

The executive masters of business administration in renewables is a 32-credit hour and 14-month long program. Corey Phelps, the dean of the Price College of Business and a  David Ross Boyd Professor of Accounting, said the first class begins in the spring of 2022 and is designed for mid-career professionals who work in the energy sector to enhance their business skills while focusing on the specific challenges and economics of renewable energy firms. 

Phelps and Dipankar Ghosh, the program’s architect, said this new program is intended to meet the growing demand for renewable energy professionals. Carteret Community College to host grand opening of NC Military Business Center | News

MOREHEAD CITY — Carteret Community College will host the grand opening of the North Carolina Military Business Center from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center.

The center will be located on CCC’s campus in Morehead City at the Big Rock Career Center.

The grand opening will include remarks from CCC President Dr. Tracy Mancini and U.S. Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C.

“The NCMBC is an excellent complement to the college’s Small Business Center and other business support services,” Dr. Mancini said in a press release about the opening. “We are proud to house this NCMBC on our campus and to serve as a hub for education, support and access for local businesses that could benefit from government contracts in the many industries that support military bases.”
