GROW Nebraska Women’s Business Center to open Wednesday

On Wednesday, GROW Nebraska will open a women’s business center in Omaha. The ribbon-cutting will be at 3 p.m. at the Empowerment Center, 5190 Sprague Plaza, Suite 216.The Small Business Administration announced grant funding for 20 new women’s business centers in 2021. Omaha was included. GROW Nebraska is partnering with the Metro Omaha Women’s Business Center to offer different resources from webinars to training. The goal is to help women get started in running their own businesses, no matter what their experience level is.”We literally meet you where you are to get you to the next level, so we’re looking to see women’s businesses scale and become larger in our community,” Candace Price said. She hopes this center will help women get more access to capital, a barrier she says many women face. Price is a business owner herself and the executive director of the GROW Nebraska Women’s Business Center.She co-owns Home Team Auto Sales, and she said it was tough getting started. Price said she wishes she had someone to help walk her through what she needed to know, (telling her): “This is what you need to do with the city. This is what you’ll need to get a special use permit, you know things of that nature … it would’ve made all the difference in the world and it would’ve cut down on a lot of stress.”
