CFCC to host free tax webinars for Hispanic-owned businesses

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Two free sales and use tax webinars will be open for free to Spanish-speaking business owners on Mar. 15, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., and Apr. 5, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Hosted by Cape Fear Community College Business Center and N.C. Department of Revenue, the classes offer insight and understanding into sales and use tax basics, how to register for an account and understanding common types of collections.

The webinars will give hands-on advice on how to prepare tax returns. However, it will not delve into capital improvements and repair, maintenance, and installation services.

“We are committed to better servicing our ever-growing Hispanic community,” Jerry Coleman, director of CFCC’s Small Business Center, said.

CFCC’s Small Business Center concentrates on helping small businesses in Pender and New Hanover counties reach success by providing education and no-cost training and referrals, including seminars and counseling.

The CFCC Resource Center can be accessed by appointment and offers internet access, business planning, accounting software, marketing/website videos, and business books.
